Norwich City picked up a rare and unexpected point at home to Tottenham Hotspur at Carrow Road in their final game of 2019.
The Canaries sit bottom of the Premier League table as every point between now and the end of the season is crucial for Daniel Farke’s side.
Tottenham were slow starters in East Anglia on Saturday and fell behind through Mario Vrancic’s first Premier League goal, coming after 18 minutes.
That did kick Jose Mourinho’s side into gear but it was not until 10 minutes into the second half that Christian Eriksen equalised. One may have thought that Tottenham would go on and win the game from here, but fell behind again on the hour as a deflected cross went in off Serge Aurier for an own goal to restore Norwich’s lead.
Three points would have been huge for last season’s Championship winners but it wasn’t to be as Harry Kane converted a spot kick in the final 10 minutes. Mourinho’s side never looked like getting a win after that. The draw leaves Spurs two points behind fourth-place Chelsea, who travel to Arsenal tomorrow. Norwich are on only 13 points from 20 games – six from safety.
